Derby County, Sunderland’s opponents, fired manager Paul Warne from Boro.

The Rams, who were promoted from League One the previous season, are currently two points

from safety in the relegation zone after losing their last seven games in the second division.

They recently suffered a home loss to Sunderland. In early March, Derby will travel to the North East

to play Middlesbrough. During the January transfer window, Matt Clarke was acquired by the Rams from Boro.

Due to Warne’s dismissal, Regis Le Bris is now the 12th longest-serving manager in the second division,

despite only taking over at the end of June of last year, and Carrick is now the longest-serving manager.

“His contribution to gaining promotion to the Championship should never be forgotten by any fan.” I most definitely won’t.

“But in football, decisions are made based on results, and we thought that the time was right to make a

change to give us the best chance of keeping our Championship status.”

A statement from Derby stated: “The search for Paul’s replacement is underway and there will be no

further comment until the position has been filled.”
