Celtic fans told what UEFA will do if they get punished again post-Bayern Munich ban threat

The dark UEFA cloud is still hanging above Celtic’s head.

As Brendan Rodgers prepares Celtic for two huge games against Bayern Munich in the Champions League play-off phase, he will be hoping the travelling fans will be allowed inside the Allianz Arena for the second leg on Tuesday, 18 February.

For the first leg, the most important people are going to be those fans inside Parkhead because the rest of the world is going to witness and understand what it’s like under the lights on a European night in Glasgow.

That’s something to look forward to and it provides Celtic with a chance to cause an upset against a rejuvenated Vincent Kompany side.

But, the threat of a ban looms for the Celtic away fans after UEFA charged the Scottish club for the use of pyrotechnics against Aston Villa.

This isn’t the first time Celtic have been in UEFA’s bad books, and whilst no official call has been made, by the letter of the law, a ban looms, which is a crying shame for the vast majority of the travelling supporters.

Celtic’s Bayern away trip ban threat should be a wake-up call, the next ban is worse

You are hoping this is a warning and stingy reality check to the small minority who break these rules. Whether you like the laws on pyrotechnics or not, the fact of the matter is, the rules are in place.

If Celtic are banned for the Germany trip, and more offences are committed again, then those in UEFA headquarters will only get tougher and tougher.

UEFA will then turn to partly closing Celtic Park, which would be far worse, as Mark Guidi explained on Go Radio.

“There is no decision yet by UEFA, I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing,” said Guidi. “If UEFA are consistent, then you would imagine they won’t allow Celtic fans inside the stadium, which is a shame for the good supporters that travel to support their team in the right manner.

“And for Brendan Rodgers and the players, if they keep the tie alive from the first leg at Celtic Park to go over to Germany and not having that support behind them, it certainly doesn’t make their job any easier.

“Celtic have had so many warnings and so many fines by UEFA. I can see it coming. What they need to be careful of, after this one, it will be closing down a part of Celtic Park. That’s the next step, after the fans are banned from travelling away from home. They need to be careful.”

Celtic’s statement about Champions League trip to Allianz Arena

You suspect an official call will be made sooner rather than later because the first leg against Bayern Munich is around the corner.

Plus, if UEFA don’t ban the travelling support, then away tickets need to be disrupted, so fans can plan ahead for their trip to Germany.

Celtic released a statement on this matter and shared that they haven’t been informed about away tickets.

“Please note, contrary to media reports regarding Celtic’s forthcoming match against Bayern Munich in Germany, Celtic Football Club has not as yet been informed of any timescale with regards to a decision being made on away tickets,’ wrote a club statement.
