Since their 1-1 draw with Burnley on December 6, Boro has only won three of their last 12
Championship games.
Delano Burgzorg gave Middlesbrough the lead early in their most recent match against the Black Cats, but Ryan Giles’ own goal with minutes remaining saw the Teessiders give up a crucial point. This was
yet another game in which Middlesbrough lost from a winning position.
The Boro manager isn’t sharing the frustration that has been growing around Riverside Stadium due
to recent performances and outcomes.
“Not a concern” – Middlesbrough head coach Michael Carrick not worried over recent poor form
After the loss against Sunderland, Carrick stated in a post-game interview with The Northern Echo
that he is not concerned about Middlesbrough’s recent performances.
“There is no escaping the fact that you want to win football games,” he remarked. If we want to reach
our desired destination, we must accomplish it. There is no escaping the fact that we must win games, but the form is not an issue.
The Boro manager responded, “Of course we need to,” when asked if Carrick needed to strike the
correct balance between attack and defence. We must undoubtedly score more goals than we give up,
but you can’t plan for giving up two goals like that and the second one at Preston.
“They are moments. We must handle them more effectively. As a squad, we must be a little more cohesive.”
