Just in: Ferguson agrees to a free signing with West Ham.
West Ham United is already considering other striker alternatives for 2025–2026 in
case they are unable or decide not to sign loanee Evan Ferguson, who just arrived on a
temporary basis from Brighton, to a permanent contract.
Evan Ferguson joins West Ham on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
On deadline day, Graham Potter was reunited with his Seagulls starlet in east London.
West Ham confirmed the 20-year-old’s transfer as they secured a much-needed additional
striker option after Niclas Füllkrug and Michail Antonio suffered critical injuries.
Ferguson’s career may benefit greatly from this short-term stay at West Ham because his last
12 months have been hampered by injuries, not to mention a lack of first team opportunities
ahead of Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro. Unfortunately for West Ham, the Irons do not have
the option to purchase him outright this summer, even if he ends this tenure with flying colors.
Potter was instrumental in persuading Ferguson to sign with West Ham last month,
but if the Irons are unable to pay his summer transfer fee, even the manager who
handed him his Brighton debut will be helpless.
