Brighton target Dele-Bashiru’s winter offers have been confirmed by Lazio’s sporting director.
Angelo Fabiani, Lazio’s sporting director, has confirmed that the team rejected several bids for
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru during the winter transfer window. The Biancocelesti rejected Brighton’s
interest in signing the midfielder, who was raised in Manchester City.
The Seagulls needed midfield reinforcements after Jakub Moder was sold to Feyenoord and
Julio Enciso was loaned to Ipswich Town. Nevertheless, Lazio was unwilling to let go of the
Nigerian international unless they received a sizable offer that was too good to refuse.
Dele-Bashiru, who joined Lazio last summer from Turkey’s Hatayspor,
has faced challenges in adapting to the competitive environment of Serie A.
Since his arrival, the 24-year-old midfielder has managed to find the net only
twice in fourteen league appearances, raising concerns about his integration into the squad.
Despite these struggles, Fabiani disclosed that the club received inquiries for not only
Dele-Bashiru but also for notable players such as Alessio Romagnoli, Nicolò Rovella,
and Tchaouna, all of which were firmly rejected. Addressing journalists during the press
conference to welcome new arrivals, Fabiani stated, “If a club brings 100 million for a
player with all the assets, the player leaves. For Romagnoli we said no and they asked us,
the same thing for Rovella, Dele-Bashiru and Tchaouna.”
