Wilfred Ndidi injury update as Leicester City dealt with handful of doubts for Manchester United
Wilfred Ndidi is set to make his first Leicester City appearance in two months at
Manchester United with the midfielder now fully recovered from a hamstring injury.
Ndidi has been missing since limping out of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s second game in charge,
the 2-2 draw with Brighton at the start of December. But after two good weeks of training, he is ready to return to the squad.
That now leaves just two City players who are definitely sidelined: Ricardo Pereira (hamstring) and Abdul Fatawu (knee). But van Nistelrooy did say he had a handful of doubts to contend with ahead of his return to Old Trafford. He declined to say which players had “light injuries”.
Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, van Nistelrooy said: “Wilfred is fine. He had a great week of training last week and this week. He will be part of the squad tomorrow.
“There are a couple with some light injuries. They will be assessed today to see if they can travel or not. There are two or three with light injuries that are doubtful for tomorrow. We’ll see later on.”
With Ndidi fit, and with Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans confirmed to be on the bench at Manchester United, van Nistelrooy could have 27 players to choose from for the FA Cup fourth-round tie, provided those who are doubts are deemed fine to travel. Assuming two goalkeepers will be left out, it means there will potentially be five fit senior outfield players who don’t make the cut.
