Harry Kane spreekt eindelijk: Harry Kane’s standpunt over het vertrek van Bayern München.

England captain Harry Kane currently has no plans to leave Bayern Munich after it emerged that there’s a release clause in his contract which he can activate.

Kane, 31, joined German giants Bayern in August 2023 in a transfer deal worth £95million. Since then, the striker has taken the Bundesliga by storm and scored 70 goals in 72 appearances across all competitions.

This week, however, it emerged that Kane had a clause in his deal which could facilitate a return to the Premier League. It was worth £67million in the winter transfer window, with the price expected to drop to £54m next January.

According to multiple outlets, though, Kane is happy in Germany and isn’t planning on moving back to England in the near future. The Tottenham icon signed a four-year contract with Bayern when he left Spurs, who negotiated a first refusal clause.

Should Bayern agree to sell Kane and he wanted to return to Tottenham, they’d have priority over rivals clubs. There’s no fixed fee within agreement, however, meaning that Spurs would still have to either trigger his release clause or match the amount Bayern were being offered elsewhere.

Other Premier League clubs are aware of Kane’s release clause, with Manchester United and Manchester City the two most prominent sides to show interest before his eventual decision to join Bayern after his record-breaking 13 years at Tottenham. The 31-year-old has moved his wife and four children into a £30m hilltop mansion in the Bavaria region and he’s continuing to learn German.

In April last year, Kane expressed his desire to remain in Munich, saying: “I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany. It was a step that I needed in my career for a fresh stimulus, a fresh challenge and new surroundings and I’m really happy that I made the move.

“My future is at Bayern Munich. I have a four-year contract. I’m enjoying it and hopefully, I will be able to make something special happen this season. If not, I’ll be ready to go again in the summer and turn things around.”

Unfortunately for Kane, he wasn’t able to help Bayern win the Bundesliga or Champions League in 2024. Under new manager Vincent Kompany, they’re currently top of the Bundesliga but must face Celtic in a play-off to reach the Champions League last-16.
