Chelsea could have signed Liam Delap in January if one thing happened – details
It was evident that Chelsea had a striker at the top of their list of possible January transfer window acquisitions.
The Blues have been begging for another alternative to play up top as Nicolas Jackson is currently
having a terrible run in front of goal.
Liam Delap, who is having a fantastic first season in the Premier League, was one of the names connected to a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Englishman’s individual statistics are remarkable, as he is now tied with Jackson for goals this season.
Chelsea could have signed Liam Delap in January if Carney Chukwuemeka joined Ipswich Town
Many people believe that Chelsea is the front-runner to sign Delap in the summer, and they will
most likely make a comeback when the transfer window reopens.
But last month, there was a potential that they may have proceeded with the addition, and
everything depended on Carney Chukwuemeka.
According to Simon Phillips, the Blues would have had a much better chance of acquiring Delap
if the midfield player had gone on loan to Ipswich.
On his Substack, he stated: “Chelsea had open lines of communication with his agency and spoke
to Ipswich at least three times this window to request Liam Delap. Although eager, the player did
not actively push.
