$22 million Deal: Atlanta United signs star forward Emmanuel Latte Lath for reported $22 million transfer fee.
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Middlesbrough FC’s forward, Emmanuel Latte Lath, has signed a contract with Atlanta United, the team announced on Tuesday.
The team secured Latte Lath with a $22 million transfer fee plus add-ons — a Major League Soccer record, according to the league website. The contract lasts through the 2028 MLS season with an option for 2029.
“We’re excited to sign Latte Lath and look forward to welcoming him to the club and the city of Atlanta,” Chief Atlanta United Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson said. “He’s a forward with excellent pace and good goal-scoring instincts. His ability to stretch the field will add another dimension to our attack. At 26 years old, he’s entering the prime years of his career and has already shown his goal-scoring ability in multiple leagues in Europe.”
Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath celebrates after scoring their third goal of the game with a penalty kick during the Carabao Cup fourth round soccer match against Exeter at St James Park in Exeter, England, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.
Latte Lath, 26, was Middlesbrough’s top scorer during its 2023-2024 campaign, scoring 16 goals in 30 championship appearances and two more in the English Football League Cup.
He’s also played for FC St. Gallen in Switzerland and Atalanta in Italy.
The deal with Atlanta is pending approval of Latte Lath’s International Transfer Certificate and athlete visa.
