Just In: As a European club ‘hope to buy’ following a record transaction, a West Ham player who played in Chelsea’s defeat is connected to leaving.
West Ham United’s deadline day was busier than most of their Premier League
rivals as they headed to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as the clock ticked towards
the end of the window. The Hammers lost 2-1 to the Blues after taking a first-half
lead through the return of Jarrod Bowen. It was confirmed early on Monday that a
move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson would be made,
with the 20-year-old Republic of Ireland international joining on loan for the rest of the season.
While some transfer windows do not close until 11.59 p.m. on Tuesday night,
as is the case with the Eredivisie in the Netherlands, Feyenoord is reportedly hoping to sign
West Ham’s Luis Guilherme before their transfer deadline. The Premier League clubs’
transfer deadline was 11 p.m. on Monday, which is in line with several major European leagues.
Interest in Guilherme by Feyenoord
In June, the Brazilian signed a five-year contract at the London Stadium after
West Ham agreed to pay £25 million to buy the winger from Palmeiras. But since moving,
he hasn’t been seen very much. When Graham Potter tried to equalize against Chelsea on Monday,
he was sent on as a late substitute.
