Celtic transfer target set for £9m switch as summer move scuppered

Celtic target David Strelec appears to have ended Celtic’s ambitions of acquiring him in the summer, when Slovan Bratislava confirmed he is on the verge of a £9 million move elsewhere.

The Slovakian international was highly linked with a move to the Scottish champions, but Slovan made it clear that they needed a large fee for the striker.

They were quick to stress out that they weren’t planning to sell him last week, but they changed their minds after seeing increased demand despite the high price.

Slovan general director Ivan Kmotrik also said that he expects a transaction to be completed soon, despite the fact that many nations, including Turkey, Switzerland, Poland, and Austria, still have an open transfer window.

He said: “I have to say that there is a huge explosion of interest around David, the situation is changing from hour to hour. “In the last two days, we have received an enormous number of offers. “We are negotiating, discussing this topic, but nothing is closed.

So I can’t say yet how it will turn out. “There are countries where the windows are still open. “Negotiations were very close from clubs in a lot of countries. “The offers are really too high for us to be able to approach it negatively in any way.”
