Just in: Mike Dodds departs Sunderland, and Regis Le Bris is called in as coach.

Although he hasn’t made a decision to replace Mike Dodds, REGIS LE BRIS has paid respect

to the departing Sunderland coach.

After serving as a substitute for the Black Cats in their 3-2 victory against Middlesbrough last night,

Dodds will now join Wycombe Wanderers as their new head coach.

When the Frenchman moved to Wearside in the summer, Le Bris kept the 38-year-old,

who has served three stints as Sunderland’s interim manager, in an assistant head coach role.

Early in his reign, Le Bris relied heavily on Dodds’ expertise, and as he adapted to life as Sunderland manager,

he continued to appreciate the coach’s guidance and assistance.

Le Bris remarked, “He was really important for the club, but for me as well.” He was really helpful to me in running the first sessions and establishing the first relationships with the squad and club when I first arrived. Together, we also discovered a suitable setup.

Since he wants to become a head coach and this will be a great opportunity for him, he has now made the decision to depart. We must accept that, but I do lament it because we collaborated effectively.

Earlier this season, Sunderland made a move to bolster their senior coaching staff by adding Pedro Ribeiro to Dodds’ staff as an assistant head coach.

The Black Cats’ senior coaching staff is now made up of goalkeeping coach Alessandro Barcherini and Michael Proctor; Le Bris is unsure if he will want to find a new replacement.

He remarked, “I’m not sure yet whether we will replace him.” “We’ll look at it a little later, but I just wanted to concentrate on the match against

Middlesbrough.”
