Official | Bournemouth strike last-minute deal and sign Eli Junior Kroupi
The Premier League team has revealed that 18-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi has joined Bournemouth following an impromptu agreement with FC Lorient.
Throughout the day, this deal has fluctuated. In recent days, Bournemouth, who have the same
owner as Ligue 2 team Lorient, had been attempting to sign the France youth international. With
just a year and a half remaining on his contract, Bournemouth wanted to purchase the player before loaning him back to Lorient. However, negotiations broke down, and RMC Sport reported that
Kroupi would not join the Cherries before the transfer deadline.
Still, with less than an hour till the UK transfer window closes, RMC Sport announced that an
agreement between Bournemouth and Lorient had been reached, marking a breakthrough in negotiations. The French transfer market has now closed. Soon after, Kroupi’s signing was confirmed
by Bournemouth.
According to RMC Sport, the transfer is valued at €12 million plus bonuses. After that, Kroupi will
return to Lorient on loan to finish the season. In their attempt to get back into Ligue 1, Les Merlus
are leading the Ligue 2 standings.
