Medical schedule made as Nottingham Forest deadline day transfer in works before 11pm
Attacker Emmanuel Dennis is close to completing a deadline day departure from Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old looks set to link up with Blackburn Rovers. According to The Standard, it will be a six-month loan deal with the Reds having “decided against” including an option to buy.
Dennis is said to be set to undergo a medical in advance of the move being finalised. He has been linked with a number of clubs, but it appears Rovers have won the chase for his signature.
The Nigerian found himself out of favour at the City Ground. He was left out of the Reds’ 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the season and has not featured for the club since May 2023.
Reports suggested Dennis had discussions with former side Watford as well as French outfit Toulouse about securing a move. German team Werder Bremen were also credited with an interest in clinching his signature and Sheffield Wednesday were recently linked.
Dennis signed for Forest from the Hornets in the summer of 2022 for a reported £20 million fee. He has made 25 appearances in the Garibaldi and has scored two goals.
The last time he played for the Reds was when he came off the bench against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign. He spent last term on loan at Turkish side Basaksehir and then at Vicarage Road.
Going into transfer deadline day, Forest had very few fringe players remaining to oversee moves for. Like Dennis, midfielder Lewis O’Brien was in that bracket and he has now completed a loan switch to Swansea City.
Further departures from the City Ground before the window closes at 11pm are unlikely. Earlier on deadline day, the Reds sanctioned the return of midfielder James Ward-Prowse to parent club West Ham United.
Should Dennis’ move to Ewood Park go through as expected, he will join former Red Yuri Ribeiro as part of Blackburn’s squad. The left-back has signed for Rovers from Portuguese side Braga on a permanent deal until the end of the campaign.
