Just In: Reasons for Coventry City manager Frank Lampard’s “absolute professional” apology following the transfer decision

When Frank Lampard sent Fabio Tavares out on loan from Coventry City on Friday,

he later said he was sorry to the striker.

This season, the Sky Blues player has had difficulty finding playing time under both Mark Robins,

who had him play for just over an hour in the Carabao Cup victory at Bristol in August,

and the new head coach, who gave him a few minutes at the end of the Championship victory

at Millwall in December. Despite being a frequent member of the matchday squad,

he was never given the opportunity to play. The 24-year-old’s contract expires in the summer,

and Lampard approved a move for him when League One Burton Albion called last week.

When asked why he was sent out on loan, Lampard responded, “He deserves to go and play.

He trains brilliantly, with a smile on his face. He’s a great teammate and he’s not playing,

and I apologised to him for not giving him any minutes.” He also added,

“I have just come in and I am trying to find players and who I can bring on,

so I apologised to him the other day and he absolutely deserves it because he’s been an absolute professional.

He’s a young lad, so good luck to him and we wish him very, very well.”Joining our Sky Blues
