Chelsea Hijack West Ham move, the Blues ‘Payed’ £30M to Secure French Ace
According to sources, Chelsea is now in the lead to acquire Eli Junior Kroupi, a striker for Lorient.
The two teams reportedly battling for the teenager’s signing were West Ham and Bournemouth,
but according to The Sun, the Blues have jumped in, with Enzo Maresca’s team “set to pay” up to
£30 million for the player.
Before Kroupi completes his transfer to Stamford Bridge this month, a few more challenges need
to be resolved.
According to The Sun, the player and his agent want him to start in the Premier League right away, which could be problematic.
This trade is not yet finalised because Chelsea would likely want to sign Kroupi and loan him out to obtain first-team experience.
What fans need to know about Kroupi
After progressing through Lorient’s development system, the 18-year-old made his senior debut in
May 2022 against SO Romorantin for the club’s B squad.
On the last day of the 2022–2023 season, Kroupi made his debut appearance for the first team just
over a year later, substituting in a 2-1 victory against Strasbourg.
As a 17-year-old, the forward was already seeing regular playing time; before to Lorient’s relegation,
he made 11 starts in Ligue One last season. He has scored nine goals in 17 games this season in Ligue Two.
