What’s the point! – Premier League release statement on VAR’s intervention to deny Man Utd late goal vs Fulham
The Premier League has provided an explanation for the decision to disallow Manchester United’s
late goal against Fulham.
Manchester United’s late goal against Fulham on Sunday was rejected by VAR, according to a
statement provided by the Premier League.
Lisandro Martinez’s deflected attempt put Ruben Amorim’s team ahead 1-0, and Amad Diallo
believed he had scored in the 94th minute to seal the victory.
After a delectable one-two with Joshua Zirkzee, the Ivorian scored a low shot in stoppage time
beneath Bernd Leno.
However, after noticing an incident during the build-up, assistant VAR Darren Cann and VAR
official Jarred Gillett reviewed the goal at Stockley Park.
After Anthony Taylor, the match referee, disallowed the goal, United held on to earn a crucial
three points at Craven Cottage.
Additionally, the Premier League has explained that Amad’s goal against the 23-year-old was
chalked out for offside, as replays indicate his shoulder was just ahead of Timothy Castagne.
It was posted on X (previously Twitter) via their official Match Centre account and said: “Amad’s
goal was first given on the pitch. After verifying that Amad had been offside during the build-up,
the VAR suggested that the goal be disallowed.
