Just In: Lewis Koumas makes his debut and Giorgi Marmadashvili bounces back from a beating.

Koumas began on the bench for Stoke’s 2-1 victory over Hull over the weekend,

which was the first victory for new manager Mark Robins.

Although Koumas had started the previous five games under Robins, the new manager decided to start

Josh Wilson-Esbrand from Man City on the left and Ali Al-Hamadi from Ipswich, who was loaned in January, up front.

Thus, Koumas fell to the bench and Bae Jun-ho began on the right.Although he only played for 30 minutes, Liverpool’s 19-year-old nonetheless made a significant impact by driving the ball low into the box, where fellow substitute Andrew Moran skillfully finished, to set up Stoke’s winning goal.

After collecting on the left, Koumas dribbled into the box and then shot with his left foot across goal, almost extending Stoke’s advantage.

Hull’s goal was equal to Ivor Pandur’s attempt, but Stoke hung on to win 2-1 in the end, so it didn’t matter.

In another Championship match, Blackburn defeated Preston 2-1 on Friday night, and Owen Beck played 90 minutes.

“General performance deserved a top rating but probably should have scored in the first half and could have done more to prevent the late goal,” commented Dan Barnes of the Lancashire Telegraph, who gave the left-back’s performance a seven out of ten.
