Rabbi Matondo, a winger linked to Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday, has finished his loan move from Rangers.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of conjecture about the 24-year-old’s future, with the Owls and

the Black Cats being two of the teams mentioned.

He seemed to be getting close to moving to Coventry City when the switch malfunctioned.

Matondo, who was developed in the academies of Cardiff City and Manchester City before receiving

his senior breakthrough under Schalke 04, is making his comeback to Germany.

“I had a lot of contact with Salif Sané [the former Hannover defender] during my time at Schalke,

and he told me a lot and only positive things about Hannover 96,” he stated.

I felt that 96 was a perfect fit throughout our conversation, even though I already knew a lot about

the club before we spoke. Just by glancing at the stadium, you can see that it’s a large club with a talented team and excellent facilities.

I’m so excited to perform here. I’m driven to contribute in order to make sure we have a fantastic

second half of the season and remain in the running for the top slots right up to the very end.”
