With only four victories in their previous 13 league games, Middlesbrough is currently barely outside

the Championship play-off spots. In an attempt to get his team’s promotion push back on track, head coach Michael Carrick has resorted to the transfer market.

In addition to signing Plymouth Argyle forward Morgan Whittaker for an initial £5 million fee with

an additional £2.5 million in add-ons, the club also finalised a permanent deal for Ipswich Town defender George Edmundson following a successful loan spell. Goalkeeper Mark Travers and defender Ryan Giles have both joined Boro on loan until the end of the season.

Boro has so far been able to hold onto all of their important players, but with rumours that star striker Emmanuel Latte Lath is nearing a move to MLS team Atlanta United, that may soon change.

Emmanuel Latte Lath to Atlanta United latest

After scoring 18 goals in 36 appearances during his debut season at Middlesbrough, Latte Lath

arrived from Atalanta in a move worth up to £5.6 million last summer. On the penultimate day of

the summer transfer window, Ipswich Town launched a £20 million approach for him.

Latte Lath has been instrumental for Carrick’s team this season, but his future has once again been

the focus of rumours in recent weeks after the Teesside team firmly rejected that offer.

Although Latte Lath was connected to West Ham United, Leicester City, and Leeds United, Atlanta United was the first team to show interest in the striker. They reportedly submitted a first proposal

of £18 million earlier this month, plus an additional £2 million in add-ons.

Latte Lath is anticipated to go to the United States to finalise the deal after Boro accepted an

enhanced offer of £22.5 million from Atlanta United for him, according to Teesside Live. This would

be an MLS record transfer cost.
