‘Quite incredible’: Paul Merson makes Everton claim as he drops score prediction for Leicester
Everton have another huge game in the Premier League this weekend – and another victory would be absolutely massive.
David Moyes has come in and had a great start after replacing Sean Dyche.
He lost his first game to Aston Villa, but quickly bounced back with wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton.
There have been big improvements so far under Moyes, and fans are growing optimistic that a relegation battle may not be on the cards this season after all.
But defeat against the Foxes on Saturday will mean Everton are dragged back into it, especially if Wolves and Ipswich Town also pick up results.
But beating Leicester could be huge, and Paul Merson has now given his thoughts ahead of the contest.
Paul Merson praises Everton for back-to-back wins, makes prediction for Leicester
Everton are now six points clear of the relegation zone after the win over Brighton.
Leicester beating Spurs wasn’t the most ideal result. But the Toffees can put real daylight between themselves and the drop zone with a win this weekend.
It won’t be easy, with Leicester likely buoyed by that win over Spurs.
But Moyes already has Everton looking much better than when Dyche was in charge.
Paul Merson was full of praise for Everton as he looked ahead to this game, writing for Sportskeeda: “Both Everton and Leicester had a great weekend last time out. After consecutive wins under David Moyes, if Everton can now beat Leicester, they will definitely avoid relegation. I can’t see any of the teams below them winning three games in a row like that from now until the end of the season!
“If you are Wolves and Ipswich, you want Everton to win and make this battle to avoid relegation a three-horse race with Leicester still in it. But I do think Leicester can become a bit of a problem for Everton here. They are a dangerous team and always create chances during their games.
“Everton deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve done in recent weeks. To beat Tottenham and then follow it up with a win away from home at Brighton is quite incredible considering how they were a few months ago.
But regarding his actual prediction, Merson thinks it will end all square.
Predicting a 1-1 draw, he added: ” I just think Leicester will show some fight here, especially after that huge win over Spurs.”
Everton and Leicester head-to-head record
Everton will be slight favourites to win this game, but it really could go either way.
In terms of the all-time head-to-head record between these two teams, it’s Everton who have fared slightly better.
There have been 120 meetings to date, with Everton having been victorious on 45 occasions.
