Just In: Claims made as Sheffield United plans to acquire Harry Darling from Swansea City: “Around the £10m mark”
This post is a part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series,
which offers our FLW Fan Pundits their personal thoughts on teams, players,
managers, breaking news, possible signings, and more.
Swansea City defender Harry Darling has been linked to a move outside of South
Wales as his contract expires in the summer.
With six straight games without a victory, the Swans have dropped to 17th place in the
Championship and are just seven points above the relegation zone.
Darling, a central defender, has been a bright spot in the Swansea defense, playing every
minute of Championship games before their 5-1 hammering at Norwich City,
even though the team is expected to finish poorly come May.
According to the BBC, promotion-contending Sheffield United has been linked to making a
move to replace the injured Harry Soutter, who is a crucial member of Luke Williams’ team and may provide
the 25-year-old with a path to Premier League playing next season.
Ben Cabango and loanee Hannes Delcroix would be Swansea’s only two senior central
defenders if Darling departed, but the Blades are anticipated to compete with League
One Birmingham City for his services.
Before the deadline on February 3rd, Swansea supporter Will Hughes described
his strategy for handling this troubling scenario.
