On Wednesday, January 29, the journalist disclosed through his personal X account that the 42-year-old has already

supervised a training session with the Belgian and is scheduled to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox.

One thing is certain, even though it’s unclear how much of an impact Charai can have. Clement isn’t going anywhere.

Philippe Clement rope in Issame Charai at Rangers

Only because the Gers lacked a permanent chairman and CEO at the time [Ludo Vandewalle] did Clement survive

the first half of the season in Glasgow, where he was under a lot of strain.

Fraser Thornton and Patrick Stewart have since been appointed as the chairman and CEO respectively,

but Clement is not going anywhere either.

Rangers handing a three-and-a-half-year contract to Charai suggests that they expect the 50-year-old to

be in charge for the foreseeable future.

Clement and Charai have not worked together as coaches, nor have they graced the pitch together in the playing days,

but they might know each other from their time in Belgium.

Although there was a considerable amount of time between their stints there, Berchem Sport is the only team they

have both played for and coached.

Nevertheless, Rangers hiring Charai as their new assistant manager very much looks like a move from Clement.

Many will be optimistic that the Belgian-Moroccan coach may have a beneficial influence at Auchenhowie,

even though they are unsure of their thoughts regarding the former Monaco manager staying in charge at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, two English teams are interested in this Gers star, who is predicted to fetch a record price.
