BREAKING NEWS: Police called to Pride Park after ‘suspicious packages’ discovered at business
A large-scale emergency response was spotted in a Derby street following the discovery of “suspicious packages”. Derbyshire police and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) rushed to a business on the corner of Locomotive Way and St Christopher’s Way, Pride Park, at around 10.30am on Tuesday morning (January 28).
The building was evacuated after the report and the contents of the package was assessed on-site. Police now say that an investigation is ongoing as to how the packages arrived at the business.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report regarding a suspicious package being received at a business in New Park Place, just after 10.30am this morning. Emergency Services attended, and the building was evacuated as a precaution.
“The contents of the package have been assessed and is not believed to pose any risk to the public. Those who were evacuated are now able to return. An investigation is ongoing into how the packages arrived at the business.”
The ambulance service says it was called to reports of a “medical emergency” at New Park Place at around 11.50am on Tuesday. A spokesperson for EMAS said: “We received a call at 11.47am on Tuesday to New Park Place, Derby.
“The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent three paramedics in three ambulance cars, a crewed ambulance, an Operational Manager and our Hazardous Area Response Team was also in attendance.”
