Thanks to Chelsea, Mikel Arteta can finally approve a transfer that Arsenal desperately needs.
Only six days remain for Arsenal and the rest of the Premier League to finalize transfer dealings before the window closes until summer. The Gunners have been seeking a new forward since last summer. They attempted a late loan deal for Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on deadline day, but that transfer hasn’t met expectations.
There are just six days left for Arsenal and the other Premier League teams to wrap up their transfer business before the window shuts until summer. Since the previous summer, the Gunners have been on the lookout for a new forward. On deadline day, they tried to secure a last-minute loan for Raheem Sterling from Chelsea, but this transfer has not lived up to expectations.
Now, the necessity for Arsenal is even more pronounced. In recent weeks, Mikel Arteta has witnessed Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus suffer serious injuries, resulting in a lack of depth at the top for the Gunners.
Kai Havertz fluctuates in performance, as do Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Outside of them, there’s Sterling and that’s pretty much it, unless you put Ethan Nwaneri in Saka’s role.
Although Arteta has emphasized his wish to recruit a forward, it must be for the “right player.” It won’t be a signing just for the sake of having a signing. During the summer, it felt somewhat as if Sterling was that.
As the transfer window is nearing its end, the Gunners might receive approval to sign an ideal player, courtesy of their London rivals Chelsea. And it would also be somewhat humiliating for the Blues.
It is reported with confidence that Aston Villa are interested in acquiring Joao Felix from Chelsea, as the Portuguese player has had difficulty securing playing time at Stamford Bridge this season. Felix’s optimal position is in the ten, as Enzo Maresca has acknowledged, and that is where Cole Palmer currently plays.
