The completely different position Alexander Isak used to play which Newcastle are now benefitting from
Alexander Isak, the phenomenal Swede for Newcastle United, added two more goals to his total in the Premier League Golden Boot race. He currently has 19 goals in all competitions and is only two goals behind Mohamed Salah.
Isak, along with Salah and Erling Haaland, is now considered “world-class” by Alan Shearer. Considering Isak’s performances this season, it is difficult to argue with the Newcastle great.
The 25-year-old has shown that he is lethal on both wings, in the air, and with both feet. Isak, who learned this skill at Swedish team AIK, also caused a lot of trouble against Southampton by dropping deep. They defeated Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Over the years, Newcastle supporters have witnessed a number of elite forwards, and Isak is on par with the best. Although he clearly has a striker’s instinct, it seems that he wasn’t always a forward as a child.The Athletic claims that Isak, who enrolled at AIK’s academy at the age of six, developed his ability to play in deeper areas there. Before making his first-team debut at the age of sixteen, he spent ten years in the academy.
In order to keep Isak from depending solely on his physical prowess, coaches at AIK periodically asked him to play in midfield during his time there.
