Last week, Wrexham managed to draw 1-1 with promotion rivals Birmingham City at the Racecourse Ground, overcoming what may have been their most difficult test of the season.

Avoiding a loss was the most crucial thing for Phil Parkinson’s team, and it will help them for the remainder of the season, even though the outcome did not reduce the gap with the league leaders.

Naturally, Wrexham’s starting lineup for Tuesday night’s match against Stevenage Town will be

laser-focussed on the goal. However, there will be significant events taking place in League One elsewhere that evening.

Wrexham need Birmingham to beat Huddersfield, but title may be out of sight

League leaders Birmingham will play Huddersfield Town in a true six-pointer for promotion, while Wrexham battles Stevenage.

Even though the Blues are now leading, Huddersfield, led by Michael Duff, is closing the gap on the

top three, and Wrexham must be anxiously watching them now.

With one game remaining, Huddersfield is only four points behind the Red Dragons. Therefore, even

if it may not be ideal for Birmingham to keep up their title challenge, if Wrexham wins on Tuesday

and Huddersfield loses, it will create some genuine breathing room between the top three and the

other contenders.
