Rangers have now sent in offer to sign striker with 321 career goals – report
The 34-year-old is scheduled to go to Stamford Bridge in November, but he has been placed
Brighton has set the standard for date-driven, analytical hiring, and Chelsea’s big spenders obviously value that.
Chelsea-bound Sam Jewell “approached” by Rangers
It’s interesting to note that before Chelsea was suggested as a potential suitor for the Brighton employee,
Rangers allegedly “formally approached” Sam Jewell.
In October of last year, Fabrizio Romano asserted that the Ibrox team intended to appoint Jewell as their new
“Technical Director” in place of Ross Wilson, who was leaving.
At the time, there was some misunderstanding regarding the connections, as Brighton-based local sources seemed to reject allegations
that Rangers were interested.
It’s interesting to note that Sam Jewell’s transfer to Chelsea occurred only a week after he was connected to a comparable move to Manchester United.
Dan Ashworth, the sporting director of Newcastle United, was reportedly interested in adding Jewell to his squad because the Red Devils were about to steal him.
Nils Koppen making his mark at Ibrox
Rangers wait, having made a move for Belgian alternative Nils Koppen, while Chelsea makes headlines
for their acquisition of Sam Jewell.
The Netherlands team that is soaring in the Eredivisie and Champions League was largely assembled thanks in large part to the efforts
of the former PSV Eindhoven scout and recruitment wizard.
Chairman John Bennett made it apparent in the club’s most recent set of financial statements that the “fourth pillar” of the business
model—better player trading—was at the top of the Ibrox agenda.
As part of this, the team established a new Board of Recruitment, comprised of important figures in the team’s transfer negotiations,
who would collaborate to find and acquire targets.
