Nottingham Forest come crashing down to earth with Bournemouth demolition
Dango Ouattara scored a hat-trick and in-form Justin Kluivert added a goal to give Nottingham
Forest a hard lesson as Bournemouth defeated them 5-0.
With a hat-trick from Dango Ouattara plus goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth crushed Nottingham Forest 5-0, winning the battle of the European gatecrashers
handily.
Andoni Iraola’s free-flowing Cherries team totally outplayed the in-form Forest, who had won
seven of their previous eight games to move up into the Champions League spots.
Few would have imagined that by the end of January, both teams would be in the European
shake-up, or, in Forest’s case, an outside contender for the championship, after they battled for
a 1-1 draw on the first day of the season.
Even though it was enjoyable while it lasted, Forest can certainly forget about catching leaders
Liverpool now. However, with a thrilling performance that extended their unbeaten record to 11,
their fellow Premier League upstarts Bournemouth are now poised to join them in the top four
after recording their fifth victory in six games.
After just nine minutes, Kluivert’s collection of the ball from a Cherries throw-in just inside his own
half gave them the lead. After swerving away from a challenge near the halfway line, he went
forward while Forest’s defenders retreated. After winning 4-1 against Newcastle last Saturday with
a hat-trick, the Dutchman was full of confidence and was allowed to come within 20 yards of the
goal before pinning a fantastic shot low.
Every time Bournemouth advanced, they posed a threat.
