Nottingham Forest should rekindle their interest in the £30m striker over Matheus Cunha, who now has 15 goals in 18 matches

JUST IN: Nottingham Forest should rekindle their interest in the £30m striker over Matheus Cunha, who now has 15 goals in 18 matches.

As the January transfer window nears its close in February, Nottingham Forest will make a concerted effort to acquire a striker, with multiple players rumored to be potential additions to the team.

Before the transfer window closes, Evangelos Marinakis is seeking to acquire a new forward. After 22 matches, Forest are enjoying a strong position in the Premier League, sitting in third place.

Earlier this week, Yoane Wissa was associated with a transfer to Forest. The Brentford striker is drawing interest from multiple clubs, but Thomas Frank aims to keep him at the Bees until this window closes. In recent days, Matheus Cunha of Wolves has been connected to Forest. He has scored 10 goals this season and is currently hesitating over a new contract with his present club.

Nottingham Forest should attempt to acquire Santiago Gimenez once more

This may displease some fans, but the Reds need to pursue a player who is currently in excellent form. Gimenez declined three offers from Forest over the summer, as he wanted to play Champions League football with Feyenoord. A player who netted 26 goals last season to help his team qualify shouldn’t be denied that opportunity. At this moment, it’s fair to say he’s delivering the goods, and last night he scored two goals against Bayern Munich.

In a rainy Rotterdam, Feyenoord astonished the German giants with a resounding 3-0 victory. Gimenez converted a penalty and netted another remarkable goal, bringing his total to 15 goals in only 18 matches.

Gimenez has disclosed the reason for his rejection of Forest since the summer. During the last transfer window, he only wanted to play in the Champions League and didn’t have a real desire to move anywhere.
