Gers star a ‘serious candidate’ for Euro giant as £67.6m Man City domino falls towards Ibrox
The 22-year-old striker has now scored 13 goals for Rangers and is starting to draw attention throughout Europe since making his debut at Ibrox.
All eyes are on Igamane ahead of Rangers’ trip to Manchester United this week after Premier League clubs reportedly
witnessed the striker lash in Rangers’ goal during the 1-1 Europa League tie with Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the most recent rumours about the Rangers striker are coming from France, where Ligue 1 powerhouse Marseille is “seriously considering” a deal for Hamza Igamane.
Hamza Igamane ‘seriously considered’ by Marseille
Despite Philippe Clement’s assertion that Rangers desire to retain the striker this season, Hamza Igamane has been listed
with Marseille in the French daily Hespress Francais.
According to X, L’OM views Igamane as a “serious candidate” to succeed Elye Wahi, who is reportedly considering a move to
Eintracht Frankfurt.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that French striker Wahi is ‘closing in’ on a move to Rangers’ Europa League Final foes after
Manchester City moved for Omar Marmoush.
Foot Mercato claims that after banking an incredible €80 million (£67.6 million) from the sale of Marmoush, Frankfurt will
seek to pay about €25 million (£21 million) for Wahi’s services come January.
The links mostly originate from Twitter rumours about the striker, even if the Hespress post credits anonymous “French
press” sources with first reporting the interest.
Rangers supporters will undoubtedly be a little uneasy come January as this is the first time a reputable news outlet has
connected Marseille to Hamza Igamane.
Philippe Clement ‘confident’ Rangers striker will be sold
With chaos anticipated on the Ibrox frontline, Rangers boss Philippe Clement has already alluded to
Cyriel Dessers’ possible departure come January.
Money talks and the Ibrox club’s urgent attempt to recover transfer cash make it impossible to imagine both the Nigerian
international striker and Hamza Igamane leaving Rangers this month.
In the past, Philippe Clement has been questioned about Hamza Igamane’s future and acknowledged that he is “confident”
the forward will eventually make the Gers a huge profit.
But the Rangers boss has also urged the club’s hierarchy to hold on to their top performers and only cash in when the time is right.
”We’re not the only club in the world that works like that or has to work like that, it’s the world of football now,” said Clement.
”I had it a lot in my old clubs also before.
”Somebody can make a next step, a higher step and it’s beneficial for the club and the player, there’s no possibility to stop them.
It’s a component of the narrative. As a player, I have also done it. In football, it’s common.
“The other thing is that it’s crucial to understand when it’s best for both the player and the club.”
“Those are fascinating items. I have no doubt that it will be something for Hamza in the future, but not anytime soon.
“I think it’s critical that we don’t sell players who are performing well right now if we want stability.
“If not, it becomes even more challenging.”
