Leeds have struck gold with their “explosive” star valued higher than Louie Barry.
Leeds United’s Transfer Plans: Ramazani Shines as Barry Links Continue
With the January transfer window still open for a couple more weeks, Leeds United have yet to make their first signing of the month.
Currently sitting at the top of the Championship after a commanding 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, Daniel Farke’s side may not be in urgent need of reinforcements.
Despite their strong position, the Whites have been linked with a potential loan move for Aston Villa forward Louie Barry, who impressed during the first half of the season on loan at Stockport County in League One. However, it remains to be seen if Leeds can secure a deal.
Louie Barry’s Market Value
According to Transfermarkt, Barry is valued at €1.8m (£1.5m), likely due to his lack of experience in the top two tiers of English football.
The 21-year-old shone in League Two last season, netting nine goals in 17 starts, before stepping up to League One, where he scored 15 goals in 23 games before being recalled by Villa this month.
However, since Barry has yet to prove himself at the Championship level, bringing him to Elland Road would be a risk. Instead, Leeds may be better off focusing on a left-winger with proven second-tier experience—Largie Ramazani.
Leeds Have Struck Gold with Largie Ramazani
Signed from Almeria in the summer, Ramazani was initially valued at €5m (£4.2m) by Transfermarkt.
The 23-year-old Belgian winger, once described as an “explosive” talent by scout Jacek Kulig, has been impressive in the Championship despite missing five games between October and November due to an ankle injury.
Before his setback, Ramazani registered three goals and one assist in six league starts. Since returning, he has scored two goals and provided one assist in his last two appearances across all competitions.
Overall, Ramazani has five goals and two assists in just eight starts, showcasing his impact in the final third when fully fit.
As of January 21, 2025, Transfermarkt now values him at €7.5m (£6.3m), highlighting his growing importance at Leeds and making him far more valuable than Barry.
Why Leeds Should Prioritize Ramazani Over Barry
Rather than loaning Barry to develop him for Aston Villa, Leeds should focus on maximizing Ramazani’s potential, as they already have a top-tier talent on their hands.
Leeds return to action in the Championship on Tuesday night.
