Leeds United given greenlight by Nottingham Forest coach to secure transfer target
Andrew Omobamidele, a defender for Forest, has been linked to Leeds United.
Amid rumours of a possible transfer to Leeds United or Sheffield United, its promotion rivals,
Andy Reid, the coach of Nottingham Forest, has hinted that Andrew Omobamidele will be departing
the City Ground this January. Due to his inability to secure a consistent spot in the high-flying Forest squad this season, the 22-year-old centre back has been strongly linked to both the Whites and the Blades this month.
Daniel Farke, the manager of United, is familiar with Omobamidele because he played at Norwich
City under the German. The Republic of Ireland player secured a £10 million transfer to the City
Ground in 2023 after Farke gave him his first Premier League start in 2021.
With just 11 appearances in all competitions this season, the defender trails players like Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo, and Morato in the Forest squad. Leeds may need to act quickly to acquire a replacement centre-back given Pascal Struijk’s possible long-term injury.
Reid has indicated that a move is necessary, therefore it now looks like Omobamidele will
undoubtedly be available and on the move this month.
