Leicester City tee up Tottenham debut with Mads Hermansen return date announced

Woyo Coulibaly is in line for his Leicester City debut at Tottenham this weekend with the new

right-back now able to train alongside his team-mates.

The paperwork required for the £3m signing to begin work at Seagrave had not come through last week,

and so City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy chose to leave him out of the squad for the defeat to Fulham.

But with a full week of training coming up,

Coulibaly is expected to be in the squad in North London next Sunday.

Explaining the new recruit’s absence against Fulham, van Nistelrooy said in his post-match press conference:

“The paperwork wasn’t ready yesterday so he couldn’t train the day before a game.

It’s not possible to include him in the squad. But he will be there next week.”

City are not expected to welcome any more of their unavailable players back to the squad to face Tottenham,

but van Nistelrooy has teased that he may be able to give an update on number one goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. The Dane has now missed six Premier League fixtures since picking up his groin injury at Newcastle, with City defeated in all six.

Van Nistelrooy has placed his faith in Jakub Stolarczyk,

saying the Pole’s ability allows him to wait until Hermansen is 100 per cent fit before returning.

And a date for the Dane’s comeback could be offered this week.

Speaking last Thursday, van Nistelrooy said of his number one goalkeeper: “It’s a work in progress on his rehab.

He’s making small steps in the right direction at the moment. Hopefully some time next week, there can be an update on when he can be back.”

On City’s other injured players, van Nistelrooy said a week-and-a-half ago that Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) would be be back in team training “in the coming weeks”, adding that Ricardo Pereira (hamstring) is not due back until at least March. Abdul Fatawu (knee) is out for the season.
