David Moyes is already facing his first Everton transfer setback under the Friedkin ownership.
David Moyes appears set to lose out on one of his Everton transfer targets as The Friedkin Group (TFG) works to strengthen the squad.
The atmosphere at Goodison Park is undoubtedly upbeat after the Toffees secured a 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday (19 January).
Moyes finally got the best out of Everton’s attack, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin rediscovering his form by getting on the scoresheet.
Iliman Ndiaye has also been one of the standout performers for the Merseyside club this season, providing the Scottish manager with hope in the fight against relegation.
However, the Toffees still need more quality on the right wing, and a move for Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah in the winter transfer window seemed close after an agreement was reportedly reached [Fabrice Hawkins, 16 January].
Everton Set to Miss Out on Ernest Nuamah Transfer
John Textor has accepted an offer of nearly £28 million from Zenit Saint Petersburg for Botafogo forward Luiz Henrique [L’Equipe, 19 January].
As a result, Eagle Football Holdings may now decide to retain Nuamah at Lyon, as they wouldn’t have a suitable replacement if he were to leave.
This could mean Everton miss out on signing the 21-year-old Ghanaian winger and will have to shift their focus to other targets, with most of the funds from Henrique’s sale expected to go to Lyon.
Moyes currently has Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom as options for the right side of the attack, but both have struggled to impress this season.
Despite Everton’s victory over Tottenham, the threat of relegation still hangs over the Merseyside club.
The Friedkins will be keen to give Moyes the best possible chance of keeping Everton in the Premier League ahead of the move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
It remains to be seen how the recruitment team will respond if they miss out on Nuamah.
In other Everton news, the Women’s team has sent a heartfelt message to Rylee Foster following her departure.
