‘Heading for Aston Villa’ – Offer simply too temping and club have accepted
On Sunday, we covered claims from Spain which explained Andrés García’s move to Aston Villa is about to happen for €7m plus €2m bonuses.
Levante manager Julián Calero also stated the 21-year-old is “99% out”, indicating his exit will go through soon.
Super Deporte say the Spaniard is ‘heading to Aston Villa’ for €7m plus €2m bonuses and give an insight into why the Spanish club entertained Aston Villa’s bid.
Calero has regularly relied upon the right-back this season, and the youngster has scored three goals and registered three assists from 22 league games.
The Segunda División side are fourth in the table, four points behind leaders UD Almería, and the fullback is key in their chase for promotion.
Despite this, Levante have favoured to sell him to Unai Emery’s side in the winter market because their proposal was ‘too succulent’. In other words, they couldn’t have rejected the Villans bis as it was a ‘lot of money’ for them.
García is the latest player to come up through Levante’s youth system to help them raise funds.
At the weekend, Levante’s Ángel Algobia managed a goal and an assist in their 3-1 win over Granada. He was asked about García’s impending exit, with Super Deporte relaying his comments.
“I think all the players are important, the absence of Andres…. Xavi [Grande] had a very good game, on a par with Andrés. It shows that with the changes we give a plus. These are market situations, and the players are looking for their personal benefit and I wish them the best of luck, we are all important for that,” he said.
