‘He’s doing really well’ – City boss Pep praises Delap ahead of Super Sunday clash
Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has received plaudits from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ahead of this afternoon’s Super Sunday match (4.30pm, Sky Sports).
After joining from City for £15 million in the summer, the strong young Town striker has emerged as
one of the Premier League’s biggest performers thus far this season.
Delap has already scored eight goals and provided two assists in the top division, so it appears like
CEO Mark Ashton and company made a wise investment.
Guardiola was questioned over the 21-year-old during his pregame press conference.
“He’s doing really well,” he responded.
“This Academy produced a lot of players. In the Premier League, they have the ideal setup.
“Every time he was here, we assumed he was just another Premier League striker.
“He’s doing really well and we’re happy for him.”
According to reports, City added a repurchase mechanism to the agreement that allowed Town to
bring Delap to Suffolk.
