Sunderland and Leeds United Competing for Oxford United Midfielder

Sunderland are actively looking to strengthen their squad this month as they push for promotion. However, they face stiff competition in both the league and transfer market.

Leeds United and Coventry City are also interested in Oxford United’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder, Gatlin O’Donkor, who has contributed six goals this season. His performances have helped Oxford avoid a relegation battle after their League One promotion.

According to Football Insider, three major Championship clubs are tracking Goodrham, and a move could be imminent.

A Tough Deal to Secure?

January transfers are notoriously difficult, and this one presents challenges. Goodrham has established himself as one of Oxford’s top talents over the past 18 months, making him a key player for the team.

With Oxford currently safe from relegation, losing Goodrham would be a significant setback. As a result, the club is likely to demand a premium transfer fee.

Despite this, Sunderland have already shown ambition by signing Enzo Le Fée and making a bid for Leicester City’s Tom Cannon. Meanwhile, Leeds United are looking to boost their promotion chances, and Frank Lampard’s Coventry City aims to reshape the squad after Mark Robins’ departure.

Tight Promotion Race

With over half the season played, the Championship promotion race is heating up. Leeds remain in the top-two battle, while Sunderland are determined to challenge for a spot.
