Paul Warne addresses Derby County reaction as tension mounts after Watford defeat

Warne says he understands the fans’ frustrations after Derby County suffered a fourth straight defeat

in the Championship at home to Watford.

A goal in each half from Imran Louza and Edo Kayembe secured victory at Pride Park to leave

Derby a point clear of the relegation zone.

It could have been different had Derby not hit the woodwork three times with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing,

Kayden Jackson and Ebou Adams all hitting the frame of the goal.

Some fans made their feelings clear at the final whistle and Derby head coach Warne said:

“I understand it, I am a big boy.

“It’s always my fault, I get that. That’s fine. I can’t say at the final whistle that I was jumping,

skipping and laughing.

“I understand that. I was disappointed that we’ve lost another game of football and was more

disappointed that we didn’t get a goal that would have got us back into it.

“I was hugely disappointed, obviously. Everything comes through my door.

That’s football management and I am not going to cry about it.

“I just use it as an energy to lift the lads on Monday and get a response against a very good Sunderland team.

I don’t expect the fans to stand on their chairs and throw flowers at my feet. It is what it is.”
