BOMBSHELL: Derby County star striker’s future hangs in balance as exit looms
Lars-Jorgan Salvesen from Viking IK in Norway has officially joined the Rams, giving Paul Warne’s team more offensive punch.
Departures, however, might potentially play a role in the club’s winter plans as they try to maintain
a balanced roster and raise money.
James Collins departure verdict
James Collins was named by FLW’s Derby supporter Shaun Woodward as the player in the team
who would be eager to leave this month.
The 34-year-old needs to go in order for him to gain any playing time, as he feels that Salvesen’s signing will simply push him further down the hierarchy.
“James Collins is my favourite,” Woodward said to Football League World.
He just has six months remaining on his contract, and at his age, sitting on the bench every week
and getting the occasional five or ten minutes here isn’t helping him.
He did well for us last season as our leading goal scorer, but it’s time to move on.
“Give him a six-month loan to see how things work out, and then consider signing him to a longer deal.”
At his age, he won’t sit on the bench at Derby, so it would be beneficial to gain minutes somewhere
else and practically put himself in the store window.
Therefore, in my opinion, James Collins, he must leave.
He needs to leave since he frees up a spot in the squad and because we signed another striker,
which further devalues him.
