DONE DEAL: Middlesbrough signs a new goalkeeper on loan
Mark Travers, the custodian for Bournemouth, join Middlesbrough on loan this month.
As they consider a possible Mark Travers loan, Michael Carrick said that Middlesbrough is closely examining their goalkeeping situation this month.
Carrick confirmed that Boro will be evaluating their options this month and may want to acquire a
new custodian, but he would not discuss any specific players. Although Watford is a rival, there is
talk of Travers joining on loan from Bournemouth.
It comes as Boro’s sole senior keeper at the moment is Tom Glover. Seny Dieng has been sidelined
for a month due to a hip flexor injury, while Sol Brynn has sustained a shoulder injury that will
keep him out until the end of March at the latest. The Boro manager stated during the news
conference on Thursday before the trip to Portsmouth that the Senegal international had taken a
step in the right direction towards his comeback, albeit a precise date has not yet been determined.
Carrick responded, “It’s certainly something we’ve looked at and will continue to do so as the month goes on – assess where that lies and how it will work in terms of fitness and availability and also moving forward,” when asked whether they might go out and find a new custodian in light of the connections to Travers. Really, that one is always up for debate.
