DONE DEAL: Birmingham City defender signs new deal

Neve Herron, a defender for Birmingham City, has agreed to a new deal.

The Blues announced the news to WSL Full-Time this evening through an official club press

release.

The 21-year-old had previously agreed to extend her contract with Birmingham City by one more

year, until the summer of 2026.

Herron graduated from Sunderland’s prestigious academy system. The defender later made 39 appearances for The Lady Black Cats over two Barclays Women’s Championship campaigns while playing for the team at the senior level. In the summer of 2023, Birmingham City pounced to sign Herron, who was predicted to be a major star. Since joining the team, Herron has consistently

been a fixture for the Blues in league play. Due to her consistent play, the young player won the

2023–2024 Birmingham City Young Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season titles.

It is critical that Birmingham City secures the futures of its key players as they strive for the long-awaited return to the Barclays Women’s Super League. As a result, the Blues have not hesitated

to extend Herron’s contract.

Birmingham City will play their first game after the winter break on Sunday afternoon when they

visit Westleigh Park to play Portsmouth in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
