Leeds United’s move for Emi Buendía is considered “ideal” given the recent developments.
Stephen Warnock believes Emi Buendía would be an “ideal” addition for Leeds United during the winter transfer window.
The former left-back believes that Aston Villa’s Emi Buendía would be a perfect addition to Leeds United before the February 3 deadline, given his current situation at Villa Park.
Buendía has found it difficult to secure regular playing time this season, and Leeds are thought to be interested in a player like him. Warnock suggests that a loan deal for the Villa midfielder would be beneficial for all parties involved.
Speaking to LeedsLive (January 17), Warnock stated: “Ideally, you would look at someone like [Emi] Buendía at Villa who hasn’t been getting enough game time and needs a few months of play to regain his confidence. He would be an ideal fit for Leeds.”
The potential Buendía transfer could strengthen Leeds United’s promotion push.
Currently top of the Championship table, Leeds are favorites for automatic promotion, and adding Buendía would significantly enhance their chances.
Buendía previously thrived in the Championship with Norwich City before joining Villa in 2021. Leeds could benefit from the 28-year-old’s experience as they aim to return to the Premier League.
Although Buendía’s influence has waned under Unai Emery due to fitness issues, a move to Elland Road could reignite his career.
Brenden Aaronson has performed well in the number 10 role, but Buendía would offer competition for the position.
Given Leeds’ recurring fitness issues, a temporary move for Buendía seems like a sensible choice. However, whether the signing will happen remains to be seen.
Additionally, there have been new developments in the transfer saga involving Joe Gelhardt.
