JUST IN: David Moyes provides an update as Everton misses five players for Aston Villa….. see more
David Moyes has hope. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is healthy enough to play against Aston Villa.
Calvert-Lewin has returned to training after missing Everton’s FA Cup third-round victory against Peterborough last Thursday because of an ankle injury. Seamus Coleman, who took over as interim manager of the squad following Sean Dyche’s dismissal and prior to Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, is also anticipated to be available for selection.
“Dominic has trained today (Monday), so we think he should be okay,” Moyes stated during his first press conference following his appointment to the Everton position. McNeil’s character Dwight isn’t. As far as I know, he has a minor, persistent knee problem.
On-loan Chelsea forward Armando Broja is also set to miss the Villa clash, after being taken off on a stretcher against Peterborough. Moyes continued: “He (Broja) is going for another scan. I think there’s a little bit of mixed (feeling) – one moment we’re not thinking it’s not too bad, so that’s why we’re doubling up (with the scans). We’re just waiting on a bit of swelling to go down before he goes for a scan and hopefully we’ll get a better idea in the next few days.” James Garner trained on Monday as he steps up his recovery from a back issue. Tim Iroegbunam (foot) and Youssef Chermiti (thigh) remain unavailable for the Toffees ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Villa (7:30pm).
