Philippe Clement “excited” as signing news breaks around top Premier League attacker
Rangers director Zeb Jacobs couldn’t contain his excitement over the signing of top young Everton prospect Arian Allen for the club’s Academy.
The 16-year-old attacker joins the Gers after spending six years in the Premier League club’s academy.
Rangers can offer their first professional contracts to teenagers as young as 16,
although teams south of the border must wait until the player is 17 years old to sign a contract.
Arian Allen is described as a “dynamic forward who can play across the frontline”
and will join Steven Smith’s U18s squad till the end of the season.
Zeb Jacobs: Rangers are thrilled by the Arian Allen acquisition.
Rangers Academy Director Zeb Jacobs was clearly pleased to complete the signing of Arian Allen from Everton.
Speaking in an official Rangers statement about the transfer,
it’s apparent that this is a young youngster who is highly regarded by the club’s dynamic youth department.
“It’s great to have Arian on board,” Jacobs remarked.
“We are all excited to start working with him and develop his potential over the coming seasons.”
While Arian Allen is only 16 years old, and expectations must be tempered,
it is yet another example of Rangers’ diligent youth department pursuing outstanding young talent.
Ibrox Academy continues to invest.
The most notable recruit from the lower leagues in recent seasons has been former Millwall striker Zak Lovelace,
who has already made his way into the first squad.
The 18-year-old is a highly rated young England youth international who is expected to achieve great things in the game,
despite the fact that his recent Rangers breakthrough was cut short due to injury.
Even Ross McCausland, who is now a fixture in the first squad, was signed from Northern Irish side Linfield.
