The fans continue to wonder how a season can end so abruptly as the commotion surrounding Celtic’s further losses in the title race intensifies this week.

Brendan Rodgers and his team are receiving a lot of flak for blowing an eight-point lead, which has left them two points behind Rangers in the race for the championship.

The performances that have followed the findings, however, are far more concerning. We have for too long witnessed a Celtic team struggle to produce these kind of subpar performances with tense performances that have been all too common this season.

Earlier in the season, Rodgers described how he lost his cool with his team at McDiarmid Park following a subpar first half against St Johnstone. You must be wondering, then, what he said to the players following the chaos.

Brendan Rodgers speaks the truth in the Celtics’ locker room.

Following Celtic’s two-point defeat to Kilmarnock, the manager of Celtic recounted a rather uninspired talk he had with the players.

Rodgers stated, “I feel for the supporters,” [Superscoreboard]. After the game, I told the players that there are children who have come from all across the nation, as well as from Ireland, to watch their idols and want to be them in the future.

“That will undoubtedly not motivate them. We just have to accept that it wasn’t anything close to the level we would have preferred.

Heh, I see what Rodgers is attempting to accomplish here. He’s appealing to the players’ emotions in an attempt to get a response from them, but wasn’t a reading of the riot act required in this situation?

The Celtic manager might have said a lot more to that bunch of players to get a better response, from the players’ glaring lack of creativity to their defending of the equalizer.

It wouldn’t have hurt to give some of them a few home truths. When Sunday arrives, we will know if Rodgers’ remarks have sparked some sort of response.

For the Celtic supporters, who have nearly lost all patience with what they have seen from their team this season, nothing less than a convincing victory will do.
