Dujon Sterling, who made the difference against St. Johnstone on Sunday, is an underappreciated talent in the Rangers team, according to former captain Lee McCulloch.

Rangers moved two points clear of St Johnstone at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings with their victory over them this past weekend, 3-0.

But St. Johnstone put up a strong fight to stay in the game on Sunday, so it wasn’t all plain sailing for Rangers at McDiarmid Park.

After entering the game in the second half, Sterling’s spirited play on the right wing was crucial to Rangers’ victory.

Despite only four league starts this season, McCulloch believes the 24-year-old is still a highly underappreciated player on the Rangers team.

He thinks Sterling has the technical and physical attributes to take advantage of additional opportunities in the future.

On BBC Radio Scotland, the former Rangers player stated, “I think he is very underrated.”

Physically, he is powerful, fast, and adept at set plays both for and against. He can also play since he is a competent player technically.

“Now that he has demonstrated some desire, it will be interesting to see if he participates in the upcoming game.”

When Rangers visit Hearts at Ibrox the following weekend, Sterling will be hoping that he performed well enough on Sunday to earn a starting spot.
