Philippe Clement just drop a hint about how long he’ll be at Rangers

There have been some questions raised concerning Philippe Clement‘s situation at Rangers since he argues that his best

playing years were spent in two- to three-year contracts with teams.

After a 3-0 victory over St Johnstone, the Gers opened up a two-point lead in the Scottish Premiership,

and the dynamic Belgian boss has guided the team back to the top.

After the game, Clement made it apparent that his team’s only goal is to get better every week and is not concerned with

maintaining their position as the league leaders.

The former KRC Genk, Club Brugge, and AS Monaco manager’s most recent soundbites, in typical fashion,

had a calming and focused effect on Rangers as a team.

However, they also start a conversation about the Rangers’ current position, history, and—perhaps most importantly—their

future under the management.

Philippe Clement points to three year Rangers cycle

It’s not just Clement’s comments on improvement which have turned a few heads in Ibrox circles,

with the manager’s comments on two-to-three year squad rotations interesting fans.

Rangers fans aren’t stupid and know that if Philippe Clement continues to impress north of the border,

then he’ll attract attention down south.

Steven Gerrard, Ange Postecoglou, and Brendan Rodgers (although certainly not this time around) have all drawn interest

from the Premier League after success in Scotland.

“Our challenge is to be every week better, every month better,” said Clement. “Not every game better,

that’s impossible, but we try to do that.

“To develop as individuals, as a team, to become better, to adapt to circumstances, to get experience together.

My best time as a player was in a team where we played two years, three years together because you learn our

of experiences, good ones, bad ones, you become better because you grow.

And that’s what we are doing as a team to get experiences.

“Maybe if we wouldn’t have had the Dumbarton game in the cup it would’ve been more difficult today.

So you learn out of every experience and the guys are really for the moment like a sponge getting all the information inside

and doing the right things with it, what we ask, so that’s a good way.

That’s what I want, then. I’m going to be very strict with this as well.

That I want to witness an aspirational group of people who are focused only on improving themselves and not on others.

More to come at Ibrox

Philippe Clement was also asked about whether or not this is just the beginning for this Rangers side.

Having only been in the job at Ibrox for four months, it’s been a quite remarkable turnaround with Rangers lifting the League Cup,

qualifying for the Europa League Last 16, and now topping the Scottish Premiership.

There’s still plenty of games to play this season but the Rangers boss has been clear that everyone in the side still has room to improve.

“We can definitely grow a lot, but maybe our beginning is exaggerated,” Clement remarked.

“We cannot talk about the beginning because that was the beginning, but there is still a lot of room for progression,”

the player said, referring to the way they have been playing over the last four months and few weeks.

It’s evident that they have all grown throughout the past few months, without exception, so yes,

we will invest heavily in them with the help of our entire staff, and they will also spend heavily in the

group and in themselves because every day they are all incredibly dedicated and diligent.

Thus, during the course of these four months, I had no issues with that.

No, it’s a very important issue because that was the first time in a team that I had never had to smack someone

for being unmotivated or unfocused.

However, everyone feels as like they are part of a unique story, and it has the potential to be quite unique.

Rangers hired Philippe Clement as manager in October 2023, and according to Sky Sports,

the agreement will last until the summer of 2027.

Even though Philippe Clement isn’t in any danger of leaving ship just yet, history suggests that we

should cherish him while we can if the Belgian keeps up this trend.

Perhaps three years is about right as well.
