Player jets into Scotland as Rangers on verge of another new transfer – journalist
Adriano Savalli reports that Oscar Cortes, a winger for Lens, has landed in Scotland and is expected to sign with
Rangers during the January transfer window.
According to the writer for Football Sites and Mercado De Pases, the French team has also included a buy option in the agreement.
With the 20-year-old Colombian international, Philippe Clement seemed to have his man in the transfer window as he sought a winger.
Savalli wrote on Twitter: “Óscar Cortés 🇨🇴 is already in Scotland to become a new Rangers player. Lens lends it with a purchase option.
He overtook it.”
Good deal
Securing Cortes on an initial loan with an option to buy represents a savvy move for Rangers.
Cortes, who is just 20 years old, improves the team’s attacking options by bringing youth, talent, and variety.
His international background with Colombia’s young teams and national team, together with his experience playing French
football with Lens, demonstrate his ability to develop and adapt to various playing styles.
The Rangers’ offensive setup benefits greatly from Cortes’ versatility as he can play on both flanks and even in the number 10 position.
This is especially true given the absence of important players like Abdallah Sima and Danilo.
In addition, his addition closes a positional gap in the team, addressing the right wing’s lack of depth and competition.
The loan-to-buy structure mitigates financial risk for Rangers while allowing them to assess Cortes’ performance and
integration into the team before committing to a permanent deal.
After Mohamed Diomande and Fabio Silva, he should be due for his physical at any time, at which point the
Gers will be able to sign their third signing.
