Rangers captain James Tavernier ‘confirms’ Rangers exit
James Tavernier, the Rangers captain, seems to have “confirmed” his resignation from Ibrox after making a contentious social media post.
Similar to fellow departing Ranger John Lundstram, who has since signed a contract with Trabzonspor alongside
Borna Barisic, Tavernier included “highlights” from Celtic matches despite Rangers’ dismal record against their Old
Firm rivals in the previous season. This has raised questions about Tavernier’s future.
The right back had another generally poor season last season, and with a summer of significant change occurring at
Rangers, he is no longer indispensable the way he was. The simple truth is that Tavernier knows that his race for the
Rangers is run, whether he goes to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq or somewhere down south.
Not that he “hoped” he would play for Rangers next season, even his manager Philippe Clement could only state that
he “expected” him to.
The athlete shared a “highlights” reel from the previous season, suggesting that such feelings have also reached him.
Sadly, the League Cup victory is a thing of the past, and even the majority of Rangers supporters who support the
manager don’t point to that trophy as proof that he’s the perfect guy—after all, we didn’t defeat Celtic to win it,
even though winning a trophy is undoubtedly a highlight of the season.
Like Lunny, Tavernier has also posted his own highlights and restricted or blocked comments on them.
The decision to block the comments is very important.
We at Ibrox Noise are aware that Tavernier has blocked at least one of our employees on social media,
a staff member who has never criticised or attacked him on any scale.
As a result, Tavernier has a history of being a little too pampered on these sites.
Additionally, he has started to filter comments from his highlights.
While this is obviously his decision, it puts him in the public eye and increases the likelihood that he will leave the Rangers.
And he’s not really doing anything to dispel that rumor.
